"ChessMates Association" now "ChessMates International"

Connecting the new generation of chess players

For several years now, Rotterdam, Paris and Murmansk have formed the core of an annual international tournament cycle in which talented chess youth players have the opportunity to measure themselves as a team at an international level.

Bringing together smart teenagers from different cultural backgrounds, speaking different languages but at least having one thing in common: they are all enchanted by the wonderful and infinite combinations of the chess game, ensuring common understanding and natural harmony, which is no unnecessary luxury in 2019’s more and more polarizing world. We are all ChessMates!

The Founding fathers of ChessMates® are chess organizations from Paris, Rotterdam and Murmansk. From Paris the "Ligue de l’IIe de France des Echecs", from Rotterdam "Foundation Pathena" and from Murmansk the "Murmansk Regional Chess Federation".

By signing the ChessMates charter, they commit themselves to each other and will organize a youth chess tournament at least once every 3 years, with the participation of  all 3 founding teams, supplemented with a few other teams. This way, these organizations ensure that in the coming years there will continue to be a beautiful international stage for talented chess youth from our regions.

Signing of the Charter is a first step in this collaboration; in the future, other cities may join, and international cooperation will become even greater.

ChessMates provides a strong platform for international youth chess.
